Woman arrested for DUI after striking 3 cars

A 25-year-old woman is facing charges after she was arrested on Aug. 11 for alleged drunk driving. The Dearborn woman reportedly struck three vehicles while driving through an apartment complex parking lot. She was apprehended even though she fled to her parents' home in Dearborn Heights, according to news reports. The woman is charged with drunk driving and leaving the scene of a crash.

Officers recovered the woman's vehicle at her parent's home. They found that it had sustained fresh body damage to the rear bumper, presumably from striking the vehicles. In addition, vomit covered the driver's side door and console. A preliminary breath test at the family's home determined that the woman's blood alcohol content measured at 0.145 percent; the legal limit for driving in Michigan is 0.08 percent.

Witnesses at the scene said they heard a crash in the parking lot, so they decided to walk out and investigate. They witnessed the woman driving backward through the parking lot, striking three individual vehicles. When they confronted the woman, she gave them a false name, although she may have provided an accurate phone number. In any event, witnesses wrote down the woman's license plate number.

Strangely, the woman's mother eventually arrived at the scene, arguing that she had been behind the wheel at the time of the accident. That woman left when the witnesses denied that they had seen her at the scene of the crashes. The daughter told police she had consumed only one beer before getting behind the wheel, claiming to have had a medical emergency that required her mother to deliver some medicine.

An arrest for drunk driving does not mean that you are automatically guilty. If you are facing DUI charges, consider seeking assistance from a qualified criminal defense attorney who can help you learn more about your legal options. Your lawyer can support you in court from arraignment through sentencing and beyond. Do not delay in contacting a qualified attorney if you have been arrested for DUI.
