Michigan man accused of domestic assault after fight with girlfriend

A Michigan man is in trouble with the law after an argument with his girlfriend became physical. The 39-year-old man now faces domestic assault charges.

According to authorities, the man and his 30-year-old girlfriend began fighting over the number of men that she is friends with on Facebook. The woman claims at one point he hit her over the head with a laptop.

Although the woman left the home, she returned about nine hours later. At that time, she says the man punched and kicked her. She further claims he threatened her with a knife. She once again left their home, but says the man pursued her in his van. She says she had to jump out of the way of the moving vehicle to avoid being hit.

The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for cuts on her upper body.

The 39-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. In addition, he has been charged with felonious assault, domestic violence third offense and second-offense driving while his license was suspended.

Despite being charged with a crime, the man in this situation remains innocent until proven guilty. That is true for anyone in Michigan and beyond who faces criminal charges.

In addition, everyone is entitled to a strong defense. Working with an experienced criminal defense attorney may prove to be highly beneficial. An attorney can investigate the various aspects of a case, negotiate with prosecutors and work towards a favorable outcome for the accused.
