Drug crimes rise on college campuses

Recent statistics suggest that law enforcement might be targeting drugs on college campuses around Michigan. The Office of Postsecondary Education, a website, stated that violations of liquor laws have gone down over the last few years on college campuses around the state. All the while, arrests for drug crimes have gone up.

Emergency financial manager pleads no contest to misdemeanor

A man who was accused of embezzling money from Highland Park while he served as the city's emergency financial officer pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge just recently. The man's plea, which is not considered an admission of guilt, even though he would be sentenced as if he entered a guilty plea, caps off a three-year legal battle against him.

Three arrested, charged in Livonia burglary spree

Three local men have been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries in Livonia, Michigan, during the month of February. The men, whose ages range from 17 to 20, are facing several felony counts in connection with the alleged incidents of larceny and theft.

Men face prison time for stealing sandwiches

Five young men are up against serious criminal charges that could potentially put them behind bars for a prolonged period of time, all because they allegedly stole some submarine sandwiches from a restaurant delivery person. Four of them have been arrested while police continue to seek the other.
