Former Central Michigan football player faces more criminal charges

He already faces three counts of felony drug charges. However, a former Central Michigan football player now faces additional criminal charges for a separate incident, including one count of larceny and one count of second-degree home invasion.

The former football player was charged for his alleged involvement in a June 14 incident in Livonia in which a prescription drug was stolen from a home. The 20-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

If convicted on both counts, he could face up to 19 years in prison and $8,000 in fines.

The 20-year-old was arrested on drug charges in April. After his arrest, he was released from the Central Michigan football team.

Police arrested the 20-year-old a second time following the home invasion in June after one witness claimed to recognize the man from high school. Another witness said that she saw a man peering through the windows of the home. She further claims that she saw the same man exit the front door of the home before getting into a Volkswagen.

Although law enforcement often use witness statements in their investigations, they may not be reliable. People who are watching from afar may not be able to clearly identify an individual. They may also come to conclusions that are not based in fact.

In complicated criminal cases like this in which a young person is involved, it is often wise to rely on an experienced criminal defense attorney. An attorney will investigate the evidence in a case and work hard to defend an individual against the charges. After all, everyone is entitled to a strong criminal defense.
